Warm thanks to the Brussels Region and the City of Brussels, to the nearly 100 partners and to the thousands of participants who made this first Brussels Multilingualism Week, which took place in February 2026, such a wonderful success. More editions can safely be expected in the future, further strengthened by what was learned from this unprecedented experiment.

The full programme of this first edition will remain accessible on this website, so that the organisers of the various actitivities can be contacted and collaboration explored.

This first Brussels Multilingualism Week turned out to also be the week that saw the hectic formation — at long last — of a Brussels’ regional government. In the opening sentence of the last chapter of the agreement it concocted during that week, the new government states:

Brussels is a multilingual and international region where knowledge of languages is a strategic asset, both for the city and its inhabitants.

It can count on countless actors thoughout the region to strengthen this asset.
